All together, please, 1-2-3-
There's NO community like the QUILTING community,
there's NO community I KNOOOOOOW!
(Are you doing some high leg kicks? I am, in spirit. If I tried it in person I might break something. Like, say, my whole entire body.)
Okay, phew, back to the quilting thing...
Here's a beauty I started a while back. It has great sentimental value for me, because it was my first ever step into the world of improv piecing. I spent about 5 years reading and looking and listening before I dared attempt anything. Silly me, why did I wait? It's fun, and the whole point is you can't really take a wrong turn!
You cut up your fabric...
...you sew it together, and slice it and sew it together again (actually, this was exhilarating)...
...I surrounded mine by dark grey, because I love dark grey...
...I bravely pieced a back (another first for me)...
...and behold, an improv quilt!

This is beautiful. I do like you did, look longingly at improv quilts. But I haven't taken that step to do it yet. Your quilt turned out to be stunning. Love the bright colors and the grey.
It's gorgeous!
And you are so right about the community. It totally rocks.
Your palette is one of my favs...very nice & I love all the negative space!
Great Quilt! I love these "simple" quilts. Really they aren't that simple, there is a lot of thought and design that goes into them. Love it!
Thanks and this is a great quilt. Simple and effective.
Very pretty. Love the color choices.
Way to go with your first improv quilt. My only foray into that has been pillows and wall hangings. I'm more reluctant to experiment with a quilt sized one, but I love how yours looks and the minimalism can be so striking.
Beautiful! Very striking.
Love your color choice. Deciding on the fabrics is the most fun and your choices are fab.
wonderful improv quilt and wonderful colours !
Very modern
It is great - I love the color palette and the simplicity!
This turned out beautifully! I'm so glad you decided to take the plunge and stitch this one up!
You did a fabulous job! I love the colors, and the back is as nice as the front. Congrats!
Beautiful Quilt! Totally love the modern design and improv piecing.
Awesome job on the pieced back too :-).
So true! Our Quilt Community is amazing.
Such a fun quilt! I love the front and the back!
Love the colors. Nice job.
Well, when you jumped in and gave improv quilting a try, you did a bang-up job! I love this quilt. Wonderful colors you used, and I really like the fabrics as well.
Isn't improv fun? I hope you'll do more!
Wow, it's beautiful. I love the colour combination and the amount of negative space. And the back is as great as the top.
